Our squashes are harvested in multiple stages, selecting only the fruits with dried stems and pronounced ground markings at each harvest. Unlike the uncured squashes sold in many supermarkets, our squashes are allowed to cure (harden) outside which yields a sweeter, more flavorful and tasty squash time after time. Available after Labor Day until our garden centers close end of October, you can also purchase our squash in larger quantities for winter storage.
Prep and Storage
- Select squash that is heavy for its size, free of bruising, with a firm shell
- Store in a single layer in a cool, dry, well ventilated area such as a garage, between 45-50 degrees
- Varieties such as Buttercup, Butternut, and Acorn store the longest, while Delicata and Sweet Dumplings are sweeter varieties that do not store as long
