History of Untiedt's

Farmer Jerry and GrandkidsHISTORY OF THE FARM

Founded in 1971 by Sue and Jerry Untiedt, Untiedt's Vegetable Farm is located near Waverly,Minnesota.  Situated along the banks of the North Fork of the Crow River in rural Wright County, the original 40 acre farmstead serves as homebase to their medium-sized family-farm enterprise.

As the family began to grow, the farm also experienced an expansion.  Four daughters have played an instrumental role in the agricultural development of the farm.  Daughters married and added two sons-in-law to the farming enterprise.  Grandchildren are becoming the third generation to have an interest in the land and the fruit it produces.

The Untiedt family and team's interest in agriculture has continued to grow and expand over the last 40 years.  Nourished by the creativity and work ethic of a focused team, Untiedt's Vegetable Farm has diversified from the early years which relied upon a narrow selection of high risk sweet corn, pumpkin and squash production to a myriad of sustainably produced flowers, fruits and vegetable crops locally grown and delivered directly to their clientele through their unique roadside gazebo stands and farmer's markets.  From the floral greenhouses to their vegetable transplant greenhouses and beyond into the rapidly evolving high tunnel environments, the local on-farm production continues to prosper with responsible, sustainable, local flower and food production.

Everyone at Untiedt's Vegetable Farm is humbled to work beneath our logo which states “We Grow For You”

We genuinely acknowledge the following:

  • We do believe and respect an old Native American adage "We have not inherited these lands, but borrowed them from our Grandchildren".
  • Our support from you, our customer, through your purchases is your vote of confidence in our products and philosophy.
  • Our successes are and will continue to be shared with our community. Be they monetary or in-kind, we believe in "Paying it Forward".
  • Our quests for higher quality production through adoptions of new technology will never ignore land stewardship concepts, which are so dear to us.
  • Our  standards dictate that education be as much of a farm product as the flowers, fruits, and vegetables produced on our farm. To be a positive, contributing force in our industry sharing our knowledge of the land with those who possess less understanding of nature and agriculture and lack the opportunity to experience the same.
